A Circle of Worthy Blogs that Inspire, Motivate, or Simply Have Meaning

First of all, I am absolutely delighted to have been nominated for the Sunshine Blogger Award by LondonWhiskyAdventure! His amazing adventures are so entertaining and always filled with a bit of knowledge that I never knew. Yep, that’s one talented guy over there! If you crave a London adventure without the price of a plane ticket, hop on over to his blog and let the party begin!

Technically this isn’t an official “award” per say, but it is an award in terms of spreading good cheer and passing on great bloggers who have inspired you, made you laugh, or simply touched a part of your life. That said, I think this is a great idea to spread the cheer and discover other great blogs and talented bloggers.  Thus, I feel The Sunshine Blogger Award is a circle of happiness in an ocean of clutter, and because I truly enjoy blogging and reading blogs, I find this inspiring and rather worthy of resharing.

So here are the “rules” to the Sunshine Blogger Award.

* Thank the person(s) who nominated you in a blog post and link back to their blog.

* Answer the 11 questions sent by the person who nominated you.

* Nominate 11 new blogs to receive the award and write them 11 new questions.

* List the rules and display the Sunshine Blogger Award logo on your post and/or on your blog.

How long have you been blogging, and what made you get started in the first place?

I’ve been “blogging” since America Online (1992) started forums and before it was even considered blogging, but I eventually stopped as life got busy. For me, blogging is about storytelling. I like to talk, I like to write, I like to share things with people so I won’t be forgotten. I write two blogs, one for my geek family tech and travel adventures (WeDiscoverGeeks) and this one (SavvyGeekMom) focusing on life lessons, inspiring moments, and overcoming challenges. This one is more for my personal benefit in connecting who I am with the world and leaving a positive mark on the web.

Are there any Blogging lessons you wish you knew before you started?

DON’T STOP BLOGGING!  As stated above, I’ve been doing this since 1992 and I got a lot of followers, made a lot of new friends, etc.  but I stopped because life got busy. I lost touch with everyone and now I regret not knowing what happened to them in the past 20 years. I like to see how much life (and tech) in general has changed us. Blogging is like traveling, it’s an adventure!

What is your favorite Blog post?

So far I love my post Looking Back on 2016 because I loved writing about what mattered most to me  – my family. I show the world how kind hearted my kids are, how close family can be, and how much you can accomplish in just a year. Most of all, it made me learn a few things about myself – the kind of parent I am. I miss our society based around goodness, kindness, family, and inspiration. I am lucky to have what I have, but I went through a lot to get here and never complained about it. THAT is what we need to teach the world. Just because things don’t go your way, doesn’t mean you through a fit about it – you simply pick yourself up and move on … and always cherish family!

What experience is at the top of your Bucket list?

Indoor skydiving! I am so going to try this out this year! I might pee myself a little at first with my anxiety, but man will that be worth it! =D

If you could interview anyone for your blog who would it be?

I used to run a talk show and interviewed  a lot of people I was fascinated with in the technology and video gaming industry, but for this particular blog, I’d really like to interview the singer, Enya. She has such a beautiful voice and is one of the highest paid female singers in the world, yet she never does concerts, she doesn’t want to get married, and she lives in the biggest and most expensive castle in Dublin Ireland all alone.  She keeps a very low profile and very private lifestyle. I just find her simply mysterious and talented and I’d like to find out how she does it all without anyone to share life with.

Coffee or Tea?

Coffee for sure! Though I do drink tea, but coffee is my Heaven! … which reminds me, AFK, going to get more coffee!

Recommend an unusual book or film?

As funny as this may sound coming from an Author, but I don’t like to read books. Okay, you can stop laughing now. I used to read a lot when I was younger, but I get distracted so easily now and I’m such a dreamer that when I get entwined in a book and it’s over, I have to come back to reality and it’s devastating to know that real life is nothing like my imagination. Not that I have a bad life, but there is so much more to our universe and I won’t be around to tap into! Such a disappointment. I’m sure people can relate, which is why society embraces movies and books – because life is just not that thrilling and magical!

However, if I had to recommend a movie, I would definitely recommend Star Wars. Because as stated above, there is so much out there! And life traveling the universe would be a life well lived!

Think of a really silly question that I could ask?

If you could be any character in a book or movie, who would you be?

Answer your answer to the previous question?

Selene from Underworld – because I love Vampires! … and Kate Beckensale is just gorgeous!

What is the most beautiful place that you’ve ever been too?

I lived in Hawaii for four years. In fact, I went to Hawaii Pacific University for Computer Science. Hawaii was absolutely breathtaking! Too much poverty and a bad educational system though, but beautiful nonetheless.

What inspires you in life?

My family and positive, creative, go-getters! I cannot stand laziness, excuses, and negativity. I also get inspired through traveling, photography, cosplay and playing video games!

The following are a few blogs that have inspired me and keep me returning. If you do not want to participate, no hard feelings on my end, but I thought these were worth sharing and I hope in return, you feel I have inspired you enough in some way as well. Please follow these inspiring bloggers and tell them Kat from SavvyGeekMom.com sent you!
